भारत में भी बिश्नोई का नेटवर्क लगातार सुर्खियों में रहा है। हाल ही में राजस्थान के जयपुर में ‘श्री राष्ट्रीय राजपूत करणी सेना’ के अध्यक्ष सुखदेव सिंह गोगामेड़ी की दिनदहाड़े हत्या हुई। बिश्नोई के गुर्गे रोहित गोदारा ने फेसबुक पोस्ट में इसकी जिम्मेदारी ली। इससे पहले 2022 में पंजाबी गायक सिद्धू मूसेवाला की हत्या में भी बिश्नोई गिरोह का नाम सामने आया था।
लॉरेंस बिश्नोई की कहानी एक संपन्न किसान परिवार से शुरू होती है। पंजाब के फाजिल्का जिले के धत्तरांवाली गांव में जन्मे बिश्नोई ने 2010 में चंडीगढ़ के डीएवी कॉलेज में दाखिला लिया। छात्र राजनीति के दौरान वह पंजाब विश्वविद्यालय के SOPU संगठन का अध्यक्ष बना। इसी दौर में उसके खिलाफ हत्या के प्रयास, मारपीट और लूटपाट जैसे मामले दर्ज हुए। 2015 में वह मोहाली के पास पुलिस हिरासत से भाग भी गया था, हालांकि जल्द ही गिरफ्तार कर लिया गया। कॉलेज की पढ़ाई अधूरी रही, लेकिन अपराध की दुनिया में उसका कद लगातार बढ़ता गया।
बिश्नोई ने कॉलेज के दिनों में खिलाड़ियों और पुलिसवालों के बच्चों को साथ लेकर गैंग बनाया। जसविंदर सिंह उर्फ रॉकी जैसे गैंगस्टरों से उसकी पहचान बनी। 2018 में उसके करीबी संपत नेहरा की गिरफ्तारी के बाद खुलासा हुआ कि बिश्नोई ने बॉलीवुड अभिनेता सलमान खान को काले हिरण शिकार मामले में निशाना बनाने की योजना बनाई थी। इसके बाद उसका नाम राष्ट्रीय स्तर पर सुर्खियों में आया।

बिश्नोई ने खालिस्तान आंदोलन और राष्ट्रविरोधी गतिविधियों का विरोध किया है। वह शहीद भगत सिंह, गुरु जम्भेश्वर और भगवान हनुमान को मानता है। लेकिन उसके अपराधों की लंबी सूची — हत्या, हत्या के प्रयास, जबरन वसूली और नशीली दवाओं की तस्करी — उसे भारत के सबसे कुख्यात अपराधियों में शामिल करती है।

Police records show multiple FIRs against him for attempted murder, assault, and robbery during his college years. In 2015, he even escaped police custody near Mohali before being recaptured.
From those beginnings, Bishnoi built a reputation as a ruthless operator. He formed gangs with athletes and children of police officers, and his association with gangster‑turned‑politician Jaswinder Singh “Rocky” further entrenched him in the underworld. By 2018, his name had reached national headlines when his aide Sampat Nehra was arrested and revealed that Bishnoi had plotted to kill Bollywood star Salman Khan in connection with the blackbuck poaching case.
Today, Bishnoi’s network stretches across India, Canada, the United States, and Europe, with hundreds of members. Investigators say he commands nearly 700 associates and maintains links with Punjabi gangsters abroad, effectively creating a transnational criminal syndicate. He has publicly rejected separatist movements, portraying himself as a nationalist and a devotee of Bhagat Singh, Guru Jambheshwar, and Lord Hanuman, but his actions tell a different story — one of relentless violence, extortion, and drug trafficking.
The Justice Department’s operation marks one of the most significant international crackdowns on South Asian organized crime. FBI officials described the arrests as a united effort to dismantle gangs that “spread fear, drugs, and violence.” Canadian police echoed the sentiment, noting that the collaboration disrupted networks that used murder and intimidation to control communities.
