New Delhi(Courtesy Pib): The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has officially approved Phase-2A of the Ahmedabad Metro Rail Project (Koteshwar Road to Airport corridor). This expansion is set to significantly enhance the metro rail network connecting Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar.

Key Highlights and Project Cost

• Length and Stations: The new corridor will span a length of 6.032 km and will feature 5 stations, comprising 4 elevated stations and 1 underground station.

• Station Names: The designated stations on this route are Ashram Road, Koteshwar Prachin Mandir, Sabarmati River, Sardar Nagar, and Airport.

• Active Network Expansion: With the operationalization of Phase-2A, the total active metro rail network across Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar will reach 77.63 km.

• Total Cost: The total estimated completion cost for the project, including Interest During Construction (IDC), is ₹2,169.04 crore.

• लंबाई और स्टेशन: इस नए कॉरिडोर की कुल लंबाई 6.032 किलोमीटर होगी। इसके अंतर्गत कुल 5 स्टेशन बनाए जाएंगे, जिनमें 4 एलिवेटेड (ऊंचे) और 1 भूमिगत (underground) स्टेशन शामिल होगा।

• स्टेशनों के नाम: इस रूट पर आश्रम रोड, कोटेश्वर प्राचीन मंदिर, साबरमती नदी, सरदार नगर और एयरपोर्ट स्टेशन बनाए जाएंगे।

• सक्रिय नेटवर्क: फेज-2A के चालू होने के बाद अहमदाबाद-गांधीनगर का सक्रिय मेट्रो रेल नेटवर्क बढ़कर कुल 77.63 किलोमीटर लंबा हो जाएगा।

• कुल लागत: निर्माण के दौरान लगने वाले ब्याज (IDC) सहित इस पूरी परियोजना की अनुमानित लागत 2,169.04 करोड़ रुपये है।

• यातायात और प्रदूषण में कमी: मेट्रो के इस नए रूट से सड़क पर वाहनों का दबाव कम होगा, जिससे यात्रा के समय में बचत होगी और सड़क सुरक्षा बढ़ेगी। इसके अलावा, जीवाश्म ईंधन पर निर्भरता कम होने से कार्बन उत्सर्जन में भारी कमी आएगी।

• आर्थिक और सामाजिक विकास: एयरपोर्ट, रेलवे स्टेशनों और बस डिपो के बीच बेहतर कनेक्टिविटी से स्थानीय व्यवसायों को बढ़ावा मिलेगा। यह परियोजना समाज के सभी वर्गों के लिए किफायती और समान परिवहन व्यवस्था सुनिश्चित कर जीवन स्तर को बेहतर बनाएगी।

• रोजगार के अवसर: निर्माण कार्य के चरम समय के दौरान इस परियोजना से लगभग 2,000 लोगों को रोजगार मिलेगा, जबकि इसके संचालन और रखरखाव (O&M) के चरण में लगभग 500 लोगों को रोजगार मिलने की संभावना है।
