In a major crackdown on organized gold smuggling networks, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) executed coordinated operations across Kolkata and Agartala, seizing approximately 17 kg of foreign-origin gold. The total value of the seized contraband is estimated at ₹25 crore. A total of 10 individuals have been arrested in connection with these operations.

Kolkata Airport: ₹17 Crore Gold Shipment from Thailand Intercepted

On June 12, 2026, DRI officials successfully busted an active smuggling syndicate at the Kolkata Airport. The group was attempting to smuggle 11.6 kg of gold into the country from Thailand. The intercepted gold, valued at approximately ₹17 crore, was seized on the spot. Seven individuals, including one woman, have been taken into custody for their involvement in the syndicate. Agartala: Indo-Bangladesh Border Smuggling Route Thwated

Simultaneously, on the same day in Agartala, the DRI intercepted another major smuggling attempt operating through the Tripura sector of the Indo-Bangladesh border. In a joint operation conducted in close coordination with the Railway Protection Force (RPF), officials seized nearly 5.1 kg of foreign-origin gold valued at approximately ₹8 crore. Three persons were arrested during this operation.

This swift and coordinated action by the DRI and RPF has dealt a severe blow to international smuggling networks operating across India's eastern frontiers. Further investigations are underway to trace the broader linkages of these syndicates.

देश में संगठित रूप से होने वाली सोने की तस्करी के खिलाफ एक बड़ी कामयाबी हासिल करते हुए राजस्व खुफिया निदेशालय (DRI) ने पूर्वी और उत्तर-पूर्वी भारत में एक साथ दो बड़े ऑपरेशनों को अंजाम दिया है। डीआरआई ने कोलकाता और अगरतला में की गई इस समन्वित कार्रवाई के दौरान लगभग 17 किलोग्राम विदेशी मूल का तस्करी का सोना जब्त किया है, जिसकी कुल कीमत करीब 25 करोड़ रुपये आंकी गई है। इस मामले में अब तक 10 आरोपियों को गिरफ्तार किया जा चुका है।

कोलकाता: थाईलैंड से लाया जा रहा 17 करोड़ का सोना बरामद

डीआरआई की टीम ने 12 जून 2026 को कोलकाता हवाई अड्डे पर एक सक्रिय तस्करी सिंडिकेट का भंडाफोड़ किया। यह गिरोह थाईलैंड से कोलकाता एयरपोर्ट के रास्ते 11.6 किलोग्राम सोना देश के भीतर तस्करी करने की कोशिश कर रहा था। मुस्तैद अधिकारियों ने मौके पर ही सोने की इस खेप को जब्त कर लिया, जिसकी अनुमानित कीमत लगभग 17 करोड़ रुपये है। इस मामले में एक महिला समेत कुल सात लोगों को गिरफ्तार किया गया है।

अगरतला: भारत-बांग्लादेश सीमा के रास्ते तस्करी, 3 गिरफ्तार

उसी दिन (12 जून) एक अन्य सफल ऑपरेशन में डीआरआई ने त्रिपुरा सेक्टर में भारत-बांग्लादेश सीमा के रास्ते तस्करी कर लाए जा रहे लगभग 5.1 किलोग्राम विदेशी मूल के सोने को जब्त किया। रेलवे सुरक्षा बल (RPF) के साथ मिलकर चलाए गए इस संयुक्त अभियान के दौरान लगभग 8 करोड़ रुपये मूल्य का सोना बरामद किया गया। सुरक्षा एजेंसियों ने इस मामले में संलिप्त तीन तस्करों को गिरफ्तार किया है।

डीआरआई और आरपीएफ की इस त्वरित कार्रवाई ने सीमा पार से संचालित होने वाले अंतरराष्ट्रीय तस्करी नेटवर्कों को एक बड़ा झटका दिया है। मामले की आगे की जांच जारी है ताकि इस सिंडिकेट से जुड़े अन्य लिंक का पता लगाया जा सके।
