A highly concerning ground report has emerged from the Mau tehsil of Bhind district in Madhya Pradesh. While the government frequently highlights its initiatives for tribal welfare and empowerment, members of the Gond tribal community in Mau find themselves running from pillar to post just to get their lawful land recognized. Despite possessing absolute legal documentation, official government leases (pattas), and land maps, their grievances remain entirely unaddressed by local authorities.

Valid Documents Labeled "Fake" by Local Administration

The affected tribal families allege that the local administration, in collusion with influential local elements, is attempting to strip them of their legal rights. Local authorities have reportedly gone as far as labeling their verified government-issued leases as fraudulent.

Expressing the community's distress, Chandraprakash Gond, a local resident, leveled serious allegations against the authorities:

"The Tehsildar and the Municipal Council of Mau have been consistently rejecting our genuine land documents for a long time. There is an ongoing, forceful attempt to displace our Gond community from the land where we have been settled for generations. We were even sanctioned houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), and the first financial installment was credited to our accounts. However, the administration is now forcing us to relocate and construct those houses outside the town limits, refusing to let us build on our current land. They are physically stopping us from unloading construction materials like sand and gravel. A few local politicians are trying to grab our highly valuable land."

Tax-Paying Citizens Denied Basic Amenities

Documents provided by the aggrieved families clearly demonstrate that these tribal households are not illegal encroachers. They have been regularly paying official land revenue and municipal taxes to the government for a long time.

Despite this compliance, an on-site investigation by the Gamaki Media and Aabadi Ki Goonj team revealed that this entire neighborhood is being intentionally starved of civic infrastructure. The area is plagued by overflowing sewage and stagnant waste water, posing a severe health hazard to the residents who are forced to live in highly unhygienic conditions.

Bhind District Collector Expresses Surprise; Assures Strict Action

When the matter was brought directly to the attention of the District Collector of Bhind, the top official expressed deep surprise as to why the local block administration was refusing to recognize the land titles when the families hold valid legal documents and pattas.

Taking serious note of the situation, the District Collector assured a thorough investigation into the matter, promising swift legal recourse to ensure the tribal community receives its rightful justice.

The Core Question: When Will Justice Prevail?

Following the District Collector's intervention, all eyes are now on the Mau local administration. A critical question remains: under whose political or structural pressure are the Tehsildar and the Mau Municipal Council harassing these marginalized families, especially after their PMAY housing loans were officially approved and disbursed?

Gamaki Media and Aabadi Ki Goonj will continue to track this development closely from ground zero.
